Special Operations Executive (S.O.E.) was also known as “Churchill’s Secret Army” or the “Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare”. S.O.E. was formed in July, 1940, on Churchill’s orders to “Set Europe Ablaze.” The headquarter was situated at 64, Baker Street, London.
From Tempsford Airfield S.O.E. flew operations to Norway, Denmark, Germany, Belgium, Poland, Austria, Holland, France and Czechoslovakia. After the war, the organisation was officially dissolved on 15 January 1946.
